Environmental Standards for Total Residual Chlorine in Hospital Wastewater? How to Detect it?
Date:2024-06-14 Browse: 36

Hospital wastewater contains a large amount of pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and chemical agents, requiring special treatment processes. So why is it necessary to monitor residual chlorine in hospital wastewater? It is precisely because hospital wastewater contains a large amount of pathogenic bacteria that can usually be discharged after disinfection. However, the disinfectants we commonly use contain chlorine, and the disinfectant used here needs to be proportional to the bacterial content in the water to be effective! If there is a lot of residual disinfectant, it indicates that there are relatively few bacteria in the water, and there is also an environmental standard for residual chlorine emissions. The environmental standards are as follows:

According to the “5261 discharge standard for water pollutants from medical machine 2113”

The total residual chlorine emission limit is 0.5mg/L (daily average)

Note: 4102

If a 1653 chlorine disinfectant is used for disinfection in hospital sewage treatment, the process control requirements are:

Emission standard: The contact time of the disinfection contact pool is greater than or equal to one hour, and the total residual chlorine at the outlet of the contact pool is 3-10mg/L;

Pre treatment standard: The contact time of the disinfection contact pool is greater than or equal to one hour, and the total residual chlorine at the outlet of the contact pool is 2-8mg/L;

Other disinfectants do not require total residual chlorine.

How to Monitor the Total Residual Chlorine Content in Water? We Can Monitor It Through an Online Analyzer for Total Residual Chlorine!

Hangzhou ModiTech is a manufacturer of online water quality monitoring instruments, developing water quality monitoring equipment with different parameters. The total residual chlorine online monitoring instrument is one of them. The RCl900 total residual chlorine online analyzer is a fully automatic online monitoring instrument controlled by an embedded system. The water sample and anti-interference agent will be automatically injected into the reactor, and then the characteristic colorimetric agent will be automatically added for colorimetric reaction, and the absorbance of the reactants will be measured; The online analyzer can directly measure the total residual chlorine content in water through the absorbance value.
