Understand Medical Wastewater Monitoring Projects and Requirements
Date:2025-02-19 Browse: 5

We need to know that the pollutants contained in medical wastewater are: pathogens (parasite eggs, pathogens, viruses, etc.), radioactive pollutants, etc., and the bacteria contained in the raw sewage without treatment is more than 10^8 /mL. So the implementation of medical wastewater online monitoring is inevitable! In this chapter, Moody and everyone understand the medical wastewater monitoring project and requirements.

Monitoring of Medical Wastewater

1.Chroma (COL-8000 water chroma online monitoring instrument can be used to detect chroma in water), residual chlorine (residual chlorine in water can be monitored by RCl900 total residual chlorine online analyzer), COD (COD in water supply can be monitored in real time by COD-8000- COD online analyzer), BOD (BOD-8000-B) The BOD online analyzer detects the biological oxygen demand in water, the total number of bacteria (the instrument that can be monitored is the WECT-900 online monitoring instrument for the total number of water colonies), coliform bacteria (the coliform bacteria in water is monitored by the WECT-900 water Coliform online analyzer produced by Hangzhou Mouli), and so on.

2.In order to improve the level of online monitoring of water pollution in China, it is necessary to have a set of good data analysis and diagnosis, improve the quality of national water sources, for water pollution and other sources of pollution without organization of water quality automatic monitoring system, so that different projects can be real-time online monitoring, so as to carry out 24-hour online data collection and upload communication. It has real-time warning function and statistical analysis report.

Sewage Treatment and Monitoring Requirements

1.The water quality of the treated medical wastewater must meet the requirements of China’s regulations such as the “Medical Wastewater Discharge Code”; The wastewater discharged into the above-ground waters must also meet the current relevant regulations of China such as the “Code for above-ground Water Environmental Quality” and the “Code for Sewage induction and Discharge”.

2.The residence time of waste water in the septic tank should not be less than 36h;

3.When chlorination is used to disinfect wastewater, the planned amount of chlorine added to the primary treatment effluent is generally between 30 and 50mg/L; The planned amount of chlorine added to the secondary treatment effluent is between 15 and 25mg/L. When chlorine-containing disinfectants are used, the residual chlorine from the outlet should be monitored every day to ensure that the water quality is not polluted by residual chlorine.

4.Pre-treatment specifications: the touch time of the disinfection touch pool should be greater than or equal to one hour, and the total residual chlorine at the touch pool outlet should be between 2-8mg /L;

5.The number of fecal coliform bacteria in the water must be monitored once a month, and sampled every four hours, at least three times a day, with an average ≤5000cfu/L.

6.Salmonella in the water should be monitored at least once every quarter, and Shigella should not be detected less than twice a year. No pathogenic bacteria should be detected.
