System Overview

 

Polyphosphates and other phosphorous compounds in water are hydrolyzed under acidic conditions of high temperature and high pressure to produce phosphoric acid. For other refractory phosphorus compounds, they are oxidized to phosphate by the strong oxidizing agent sodium persulfate. In the acidic medium, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate and potassium antimony tartrate to produce phosphomolybdate heteropoly compound, which is reduced to blue phosphomolybdate by ascorbic acid, and the total phosphorus content in the water sample is obtained by measuring absorbance. In the case of phosphate measurement, phosphate in water can be directly measured without oxidation.
